Welcome to the website for the British Championships 2009

British Orienteering and the clubs of the South Central Orienteering Association are delighted to welcome competitors to a weekend of orienteering in the New Forest on 28 February - 1 March 2009 to incorporate:

The first two of these will take place on the Saturday using the heathland of Hampton Ridge and its surrounding Inclosures.

The Relay Championships will take place on the Sunday on Beaulieu Estate and Heath, an area new to orienteering.

Congratulations to all prize-winners at this year's Individual and Relay Championships. Would those prize-winners who were unable to collect their prizes at the ceremony please contact David Watkins by 14th March please via to arrange collection.

The programme has been updated to correct an error concerning the map scale for course 11. The scale for this course is 1:15k and not 1:10k.

The programme for BOC2009 has been updated to show more clearly which competitors will be eligible for prizes. Prizes, medals and mementos will be awarded to the first three competitors on the A and L courses, (except M/W18L, M/W20L and M/W21L, where winning competitors only will receive mementos). Mementos will also be awarded to the winners of all E, S and B courses. The original notes incorrectly indicated that the first three competitors on M/W18L, M/W20L and M/W21L courses would receive mementos.

On-line entries have been held open whilst map stocks last until 23 February.

Final closing dates for entries are: posted by 3 February or online by 7 February.

Dogs - as stated in the event details for both days, dogs are allowed only in the car parks and on leads.

Colour-Coded Courses - There are no colour-coded courses on either day. This is due to a strict entry limit and land access restrictions in a sensitive area of the New Forest.

Message to holders of Trophies presented at the 2008 BOC Event. To enable trophies to be presented at this year’s event on 28th February 2009 it would be appreciated if you could shortly contact David Watkins, this year’s prizegiving coordinator, to arrange return of the Trophy. David can be contacted on 07973 263548 or David. Please ensure that the trophy has been engraved, cleaned and is in good condition to be presented to this year’s winner.

The first closing date for Individual and Relay entries is Sunday 11th January. Entry fees will rise after the 11th January.

22nd December - Day 1 will now also be a Veterans Home International Selection race.
